Coogan... 12 JUN 1914 - [PAGE 13] COOGAN RITES HELD - Funeral services over the remains of James Edward Coogan [NOTE - should be John Coogan], whose body was recovered from the Cedar Wednesday, were held yesterday from the O'Keefe & Towne chapel to which they had been removed yesterday at the request of the boy's parents. Rev. Father D. J. Lenihan of Sacred Heart church officiated and interment was made in Calvary. 26 OCT 1928 - "Mortuary" [PAGE 2] MRS. DANIEL T. DONAHUE - Funeral services for Mrs. Daniel T. Donahue, 71, 618 Pine street, who died yesterday after an illness of five days will be at St. Joseph's Catholic church Monday at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary. Katherine Coogan was born at Kingston, N.Y., Feb. 3, 1857. She married Daniel T. Donahue at Hawley, Pa., Aug. 3, 1874, and six years later they removed to Oelwein, where the family resided until 1913, the year of locating in Waterloo. Nine children survive: Mrs. William Kaumans, Daniel jr., Ambrose and Walter, all of Waterloo; John, Waverley; Mrs. Dan Doherty, Chicago; Mrs. Ernest Hadley, South Bend, Ind.; Joe, Williston, N.D.; and Terry, Danville, Ill. Her husband preceded her in death by six months. A daughter, Mrs. Abbie Kotchkiss, died in January, 1927. Members of the Rosary society of St. Joseph's church will meet at 8 o'clock this evening at the home to recite the rosary. 22 JAN 1930 - [PAGE 11] MRS. M. E. MORSE DIES AT 86; EARLY IOWA RESIDENT - Funeral Services to Be Held on Thursday at Decorah - Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Morse, 86, died at 6:40 a.m. Wednesday [22 JAN 1930] at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. T. Tucker, 1442 Second street west, from complications of age. Mary E. Headington was born Nov. 25, 1843, in Knox County, Ohio, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Headington. When she was a small child, she came with her parents to Winneshiek county, Iowa. She was married in 1868 to Peter Coogan. To this union two daughters were born, Mrs. Lou M. Tucker, Waterloo, and Mrs. Cora Dwyer, Oklahoma City. Mr. Coogan died in 1896. In 1903 Mrs. Coogan was married to Lyman Morse. The couple resided 10 years at Chico, Cal., where Mr. Morse died. Mrs. Morse returned to Decorah, Ia., where she resided until 1922, when she came to Waterloo to make her home with her daughter. Mrs. Morse was a member of the Congregational church at Decorah. Three grand- children and four great grandchildren also survive. The body, at Peterson Bros.' mortuary, was to be sent at midnight to Decorah, where funeral services will be held Thursday, with burial at Decorah. ____________________________________________________________________ ***
