Coogan, aged 2 years and 10 months. 13 APR 1872 - "Deaths" [New York City] COOGAN - 20th [inst.], Eliza Coogan, daughter of the late Michael Coogan of Red Wells, County Wicklow, Ireland, in the 29th year of her age. [Rathvilly ?] 17 JAN 1874 - "Deaths" [Dublin ?] [COOGAN] - Dec. 23, [in Dublin ?], Mary Coogan, aged 61. 15 JAN 1876 - "Deaths" [Kilkenny] [COOGAN] - Nov. 12, at Ballyragget, Mrs. Mary Coogan, aged 70 years. 12 OCT 1878 - [Monaghan] A FARMER SHOT - A dreadful murder has been committed at a place called [Corduff, near Ballytrain], in the County of Monaghan. It appears that on Friday [11 OCT] morning at two o'clock, a man named Edward Coogan, a farmer, was shot dead. No arrest has as yet been made. 01 FEB 1879 [Volume 42, Number 5] - [Connecticut] JAMES COOGAN - Mr. James Coogan an old and much-respected citizen of Windsor Locks, Conn., died very suddenly on Monday, the 20th ult., of typhoid pneumonia. Born in Dublin, Ireland, upwards of seventy years ago, he immigrated thence while comparatively young. After following his avocation of papermaking for several years - first at Lee, Mass., and afterwards at Windsor Locks - he opened a store. During the years following, by his tact and careful business management he amassed a handsome competency. During the portion of his life spent at the above place, he has filled various local offices, and has once been selected to represent this town in the General Assembly. For many years the principal merchant of the town, he won the esteem of all by his generous and kindly heart and upright business dealings. He leaves five sons and two daughters to sorrow over his loss. Two of the sons - E. D. and J. T. Coogan - follow in the line of business so successfully marked out and pursued by their deceased father; one, the Hon. T. C. Coogan, is a well-known attorney of Hartford, Conn., another, Dr. J. A. Coogan, is a young and successful medical practitioner, likewise of Hartford; while the youngest, J. W.
