Notable persons at this site include:

Terrence Francis Coogan (1824-1893), who emigrated from Monaghan, IRELAND, to Kingston, NY, in the early 1850s. He lived as a farmer in Ulster County until 1874, when he moved to Pond Eddy, PA. By 1880, he was living in Howard County, IA. He lived out his final days in Chickasaw County, IA.

Terrence's wife, Elizabeth J. Lynch (1830-1905), whose family worked as servants in the Blayney Castle in Castleblayney, Monaghan. She was a very business minded member of the Coogan household, purchasing land in New York and Iowa.

Terrence's son, Patrick Henry Coogan (1856-1927), whose constant search for good stonecutting employment led him across the country. He worked quarries in Missouri, Minnesota, and California before finally settling down to run an inn on Lake Elsinore (CA). He died in the Los Angeles area.

Terrence's grandson, Samuel John Coogan (1903-1941), who became a priest in the Jesuit Order. In the 1930s, he was the Dean of Men at Gonzaga University.

Terrence's great-grandson, Daniel D. Dougherty (1905-1976), who was a State Senator in the Illinois Legislature from 1956 to 1976.
