The deceased was 23 years old and had been suffering for some time with typhoid fever. She was well and favorably known here. DIES IN HOSPITAL - Businessman for Many Years in Shenandoah - One of Shenandoah's best known businessmen, James H. Coogan Sr., who for a number of years operated a tailor shop at Coal and Jardin streets, died Sunday at 6:45 p.m. in the Locust Mountain State Hospital. He was 66 years old. In ill health for the past year, he was admitted to the hospital three weeks ago after he suffered a fracture of the left leg in a fall at his home. A life- long resident of town, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James J. Coogan. He was born in April 15, 1883, at the family homestead, West Coal and Gilbert streets. He attended the public schools and for a time was employed in the Sam Block's clothing store. In 1914 he opened a men's clothing store at 112 North Main street where he remained in business until 1929. A short time later he opened a tailor shop at 22 South Jardin street from where he removed to his last location. He was a member of the Annunciation Church and the Holy Name Society. Surviving are one son, James H. Jr., a member of the Publicity Department at Pennsylvania State College; one sister, Mrs. John Ahearn, and a brother, Richard L., both of Philadelphia; a granddaughter, Catherine Ann Fleck, of town, and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will take place tomorrow from the Franey Funeral Home, 131 North Jardin street. Solemn Mass of Requiem will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in the Annunciation Church.
