Since 1976, she lived in Coronado and San Diego except for a two-year sail around the Pacific adding New Zealand, Australia, Tonga and Fiji to her ports of call. In more recent years, she was an active member of the Southwestern Yacht Club. She was on the 2003 Lipton Cup winning team and her skill and heart were welcomed aboard many boats in the area. She particularly loved sailing with Geoff Longenecker on Nemisis, with the boys from Coronado on Derivative, and with Sandra and Carolyn Sherman on Sea Maiden. Coogan played hard and worked hard. She worked for the Union Bank for many years before her cruise and then spent over 18 years at the San Diego Zoo. Swimming, spinning, tennis and sailing were complemented by knitting, needlepoint and love of Gerard Butler, Warner and Molly. She was a loyal friend of Bill W. for over fifteen years. The family wishes to thank everyone involved in her care at Sharp and at Sharp Hospice. Her friends Sandra Sherman, Moira Knowles, Kathy Roach, Kathleen Lorraine, Jeanne Hultquist, Russell Broyles and many others who were really there for her.
