COOGAN - The funeral of Mrs. Agnes Coogan, wife of J. E. Coogan, took place on Saturday last at 2 o'clock from the home of her parents, Mrs. and Mrs. Saxton T. Bastedo, George street, and at 2:30 p.m. from Christ Church. A large number of people were present at the church to pay their last respects to the deceased. The service was conducted by Rev. C. S. Lewis, the record, assisted by the vested choir. Three hymns were sung by the choir and Mrs. C. Leon Cozzens sang a solo "Abide with Me," most impressively. Interment was made in Christ Church cemetery. The pall bearers were Messrs. F. A. Deacon, Harvey Brumagim, Percy L. Locker, Ambrose Watson, A. L. Way and Carl Larson. Stillwell and Mason were funeral directors. The floral pieces were beautiful and many, expressive of the love that friends had for the departed one. 30 MAR 1972 - [PAGE 4] ELEANOR W. COOGAN - Mrs. Eleanor W. Coogan, formerly of 109 Luke St., Morgan, passed away on March 24th at the Emery Manor Nursing Home in Matawan. She was 80 years of age, born in South Amboy, daughter of the late Edwin and Carrie Bloodgood Wilson. She was a parishioner of Christ Episcopal Church and a former member of the Methodist Church of South Amboy. She was also a Past Matron of Phila Chapter No. 216, O.E.S., South River, and a Past District Deputy of the 8th District, O.E.S. of N.J. She was also a former member of the South Amboy Womens Club, and a member of Harmony Shrine of Jerusalem, of Perth Amboy. She is survived by her husband, John E. Coogan, one daughter, Mrs. Jean Van Voorhees of Glen Gardner, and also by 2 grand daughters. Funeral services were held on Monday, March 27th at 2:00 p.m. from the Mason-Wilson Funeral Home. The Rev. W. Joel Wright, Pastor of the United Methodist Church officiated. Interment was held in Christ Church Cemetery. Eastern Star Funeral Services were held at the Funeral Home on Sunday Evening by Phila Chapter, No. 216. 29 MAR 1973 - [Re-printed 02 APR 1998 "Yesterday, Once More..."] [COOGAN] - Funeral services for the late John E. Coogan, formerly of Luke Street, were held yesterday morning from the Mason-Wilson Funeral Home. He was 81 years of age. Born in Newark, he was a retired linotype operator with the Art Color Printing corp. of Dunellen. He was also a former officer and employee of the South Amboy Citizen.
