The deceased was 64 years of age and leaves three daughters and two sons. The funeral will be held at the Cathedral at 9 o'clock Saturday morning. 24 MAR 1918 - [PAGE 31] J. D. Coogan died yesterday in this city, aged 63 years. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Harold Coogan; two daughters, Mrs. Joseph Phillips and Mrs. Joseph Shatzel; a sister, Miss Coogan and eleven grand- children. The body was taken to No. 196 Main street west. 25 MAY 1924 - [PAGE 41] COOGAN - Mary Elizabeth Coogan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Coogan, died Friday evening [23 MAY 1924] at her home, No. 47 Sherman street, aged 11 years. She leaves her parents and two sisters, Clara and Violet Coogan. Funeral from the residence on Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Interment at Riverside cemetery. 25 JUL 1931 - [PAGE 5] CHARLES A. COOGAN, VETERAN COUNCILMAN AT HORNELL, PASSES - Hornell, July 24, Charles A. Coogan, 66, veteran Erie Railroad passenger agent and dean of the Hornell Common Council, died this afternoon while at work in the Erie Railroad yards at Dunkirk. Death was atributed to a heart attack. He resided at 11 Pardee Street. Alderman Coogan had served for 16 consecutive years as a member of the Common Council from the Third Ward. He was the oldest member of the council in point of service. He was regarded as a leader in all civic and city enterprises. He had worked for the railroad all his life. He was a member of the Order of Railway Conductors and of St. Ann's Church. He was also a member of the Holy Name and Rosary Society of the St. Ann's Church. His health was undermined some months ago by the violent death of his son, who was a prominent business man here. Surviving are his widow; three sons, Leon and Matthew Coogan of this city and Charles Coogan of New York City; three daughters, Mrs. F. B. [died 07 NOV 2003]... 17 NOV 2011 COOGAN, Edward J. - Easton, MA: Age 95, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on November 10, 2011. He was the devoted and loving husband of the late Marion (Mattoon) Coogan. Beloved father of Tracey Alfieri, her husband Alex and loving grandfather of to their children Matthew, Alexandra and the late Miles Alfieri. Beloved father of Carole Jinks and her husband Lynn. Loving brother of Paul Coogan, his wife Marian and many nieces and nephews. Born in Rochester, NY., in 1916, Ed was a "Golden" retiree of Eastman Kodak Company having worked there 50 years. A veteran of WWII he served in the US Navy. Ed's passion was his Lionel train collection. At one time he was the President of the Rochester Chapter of the Railway Historical Society. He enjoyed riding the rails and participating in several model train shows. He moved with his wife to Easton 15 years ago to be closer to their daughter and family. He loved watching his favorite sports teams and quickly realized that if was not favorable to wear his beloved NY Yankees jacket around town. He quickly and begrudgingly gave up being a New York Yankee's fan and embraced the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots as his new favorite teams. Affectionately known as the "Ol Crow" by all who knew him, he will be remembered for his sharp humor, generosity, strong spirit and love of a good manhattan and cigar. His family would like to thank Brenda Sabin and Jeanette Hokanson for their devoted caregiving which allowed him to live at home and enjoy his life to the fullest. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral service on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the All Season's Chapel, White Haven Memorial Park, 210 March Road, Pittsford, NY.
