She was 87. Sister Coogan, a member of the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill since 1925, taught for almost 30 years in elementary schools in the Pittsburgh and Greensburg dioceses, primarily in grades 4 through 6. She retired in 1970. Sister Coogan also offered private piano lessons. After her retirement, she continued to teach private piano lessons, first at St. James Convent in Wilkinsburg for 10 years, then at Sacred Heart Convent in Shadyside. Sister Coogan stopped teaching last year when she moved to Assumption Hall because of illness. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 7:30 p.m. today and tomorrow at Assumption Hall, Mount Thor Road, Greensburg. A Mass will be celebrated at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow in Assumption Hall Chapel. Burial will be in Sisters' Cemetery, Greensburg.
