Box 37, Mountain Lakes, N.J. 07046. 18 JUN 2006 JOHN BERNARD 'JACK' COOGAN, 78, A VETERAN OF THE KOREAN WAR - MORRISTOWN -- John Bernard "Jack" Coogan died in the early hours of Wednesday, June 14, 2006, with his family by his side at his home in Morristown after a battle with cancer, the same disease that took the life of his loving wife, Theresa Elizabeth Coogan, on June 28, 2000. He was 78. Jack was born in New York City and moved to the Landing section of Roxbury in the early Sixties. He spent the last 25 years of his life in Morristown. He was a veteran of the Coast Guard and the Army, serving his country in the Korean War. Jack worked as a building engineer for the GVA Williams Co. in Manhattan for more than 50 years. Survivors include his beloved children, John, 53, of Marshalls Creek, Pa., Michael, 51, of Bushkill, Pa., Elizabeth, 49, of Hackettstown, Kevin, 48, of Landing, and Barbara, 29, of Queens. Jack also is survived by four very special grandchildren, Jacqueline, Kelly, Christopher and Keith. Per his wishes, Jack will be cremated and his ashes scattered in his two favorite places, Atlantic City and Antigua, where his wife Theresa's ashes also were scattered. COOGAN, 57, of Lehman Township, PA, died Tuesday morning, Feb. 7, 2012, in his home. Born on August 29, 1954 in Bronx, NY, he was a son of the late John Bernard and Theresa Elizabeth (Kristinich) Coogan and lived in Pike County since 2003. He previously lived in Morristown, Landing and Fortsill OK. He was a 1972 graduate of Roxbury High School and served in the United States Army from 1974 to 1994. His twenty years of military service included tours in Germany, Korea and Desert Storm. Michael was also a surveyor and currently worked as a ranger for the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area (U.S. National Park Service). He enjoyed model building, scuba diving and being a dad. Surviving are two children, Jacqueline Coogan of Littleton, CO and Christopher Coogan of Easton, PA; four siblings, John Coogan of East Stroudsburg, PA, Liz Coogan of Budd Lake, Kevin Coogan of Landing and Barbara Coogan of Astoria, NY and several nieces and nephews. COOGAN, 61, of East Stroudsburg, PA., (formerly of Landing) died January 12. He was a Vietnam veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy on the USS. Tripoli from 1971 to 1973. John was a 1970 graduate of Roxbury High School and attended Lincoln Technical Institute. He worked for the Delaware Water Gap Federal Park Commission and for Intercounty Paving Assoc. in Hackettstown. Survived by: wife, Chloe (Puzio); siblings, Liz Coogan of Budd Lake, Kevin Coogan of Landing, and Barbara Coogan of East Elmhurst, NY and nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by: parents, John B. and Theresa (Kristinich) and a brother, Michael P. Coogan. Services will be private with military burial at sea. Known for her love of community and family, she embraced life and was an idol to many as a beacon of strength, integrity, health and humor. She was an avid athlete, enjoying tennis, paddle tennis, skiing, golf and cheering on her beloved Giants! Mary, the daughter of Vincent Leo Keating, Esq. and Mary Radel Keating, was raised on Toilsom Hill Road in Fairfield, CT with her siblings Nancy and Vincent.She attended Baldwin School in Bryn Mawr, PA and graduated from Brown University, Class of 1947, where she met David, the love of her life, at a Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity party. David and Mary were married on May 7, 1949 and settled in Mountain Lakes, NJ where they raised their four children. Mary, a founding member of The Barn Theater in Montville, NJ, served on the Board of Directors and remained an active volunteer for many years. She served on the Saint Claire's Hospital Board of Trustees and co-founded, along with her hubsnd David, the Harvest Festival which ran from 1974 - 2003, raising over $5 million for the hospital. The Harvest Festival often featured surprise appearances by the ladder-climbing, roof-dancing black lab Chester who was cherished by Mary and tolerated by David and the rest of the family. She was a founding member of St. Catherine of Siena Church in Mountain Lakes and active at the Rockaway River Country Club where she captained the Metropolitan Women's Golf Team and Paddle Tennis Teams. Mary is survived by her four loving children, Mary Coogan of Rockaway Township, Dede Coogan Beardsley of Boulder, CO, David Coogan of Palm Harbor, FL and Patty Coogan Smith of Cohasset, MA; ten grandchildren, Alex, Jill and Emily Macina, Drew and Ali Beardsley, Kelly and Maggie Coogan and Reed, Devin and Gordon Smith; nine great-grandchildren and the secret recipe for her famous Mary's Mustard!
