Miss Coogan graduated with honors from Northwestern University in 1922. In the late 1920s, she opened a private investment-counseling practice. Miss Coogan, a prominent lecturer on finance, was the author of two books, Money Creators and Lawful Money Explained. She was also one of the three founders of the Analysts Club. There are no immediate survivors. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church, 1415 N. North Park. A wake will be from 5 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at John Carroll Sons Funeral Home, 25 E. Erie. Burial will be in Lincoln, Ill. 19 OCT 1986 (incomplete) DOROTHY COOGAN ESTABROOK - Dorothy Coogan Estabrook, 75, a former Skokie elementary school teacher, died Thursday in Bryn Mawr, Pa. Mrs. Estabrook earned her masters degree in education at Northwestern University and taught public... 29 MAY 1993 [PAGE 37] EVELYN B. COOGAN, PHILANTHROPIST - Evelyn Bermingham Coogan, a benefactor for a number of charitable institutions during the 1940s and 1950s, died Thursday [27 MAY 1993] in Resurrection Hospital. She was 90. Mrs. Coogan was a co-chairman of the Women's Division of the United Way in 1948, 1949 and 1955 before serving as chairman in 1956. Other volunteer positions she held included the planning and review boards of the Crusade of Mercy, treasurer of the Visiting Nurse Association, and president of the Women's Auxiliary at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center. She was on the founding board of the Field Museum of Natural History. Mrs. Coogan remained active with many organizations in her later years. As a writer, she contributed articles for several magazines, including Parents, Child Life and The Sign magazines. The Beaumont, Texas, native graduated from the University of Illinois in 1924 before teaching art in Chicago public schools. In 1929, she married Dr. Thomas J. Coogan and left teaching to begin a family. Dr. Coogan was the medical staff president at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's and personal physician to the late Richard J. Daley. She leaves two daughters, Evelyn Hubbard and Mary Alice Neylan; a brother, Walter Bermingham; 13 grand-children and 17 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Sts.
