Coogan ___________________________________________________________________ (extracted from "?", [?] APR 1992): HORNELL -- William C. Coogan, 69, of 23 north Main St, died early Monday (April 20, 1992) at Rochester General Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past eight days. Born in Hornell, Jan. 18, 1923, he was a son of the late Edward and Carolyn Nutwing Coogan. He was married in 1947 to the former Joyce M. Hallett, who survives. A lifelong resident of Hornell, he was a graduate of Hornell High School. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Army with Company K in the Pacific Theater. He was self-employed as a painter and was employed for about nine years with the former Pfeil Construction Co. in Hornell, retiring in 1983 due to ill health. In addition to his wife, Joyce M. (Hallett) Coogan, survivors include five sons, Michael Coogan of Tacoma, Wash., Patrick Coogan, serving with the U.S. Army of Fort Sill, Okla., William Coogan, of Hornell, David Coogan of Athens, Ga., and Daniel Coogan, serving with the U.S. at Fort Bragg, N.C.; Four daughters, Karen Levi, Jane Clark and Diane Terpstra, all of Hornell, and Kathleen Harris of Athens, Ga.; one brother, Howard (Hud) Coogan of Hornell; one sister, Helen Gratton of Wayland; 16 grandchildren; one great grandson; several nieces and nephews and cousins. Friends may call from 2 - 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Bishop & Johnson Funeral Home Inc. in Hornell, where a funeral and committal service will be held Thursday at a time to be announced. ___________________________________________________________________
