She was born Oct. 2, 1950, in Oklahoma City to William and June Gimlin. Arrangements for Sandee and her family were placed in the care of the Vice family at Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman. A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 235 W. Duffy St. in Norman. Sandee graduated from Midwest City High School in 1968 and continued her education at the University of Oklahoma, where she earned her B.S. in education in 1972. She taught children with learning disabilities in New Braunfels, Texas, as well as the Oklahoma City metro area. She later attained her M.Ed. in educational psychology from the University of Oklahoma in 1979. She received her juris doctorate from the University Of Oklahoma College of Law in 1988. Sandee was a sole practitioner for most of her legal career in Norman, with her area of practice focusing primarily on family law. She was admitted to practice law in the State of Oklahoma in 1988, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma. She dedicated a substantial amount of her life to improving the way legal services are provided to the public. She was recently elected to serve on the statewide Oklahoma Bar Association’s Board of Governors. She further served on that association’s Board of Editors of the Oklahoma Bar Journal, the Awards Committee, the Women in Law Committee and the Bench and Bar Committee. She was a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association’s Family Law Section and was a sustaining fellow of the Oklahoma Bar Foundation. Sandee was a proud member of the Cleveland County Bar Association, serving as its president and serving in other various capacities as a member of its executive board since 1997. She was elected as a Cleveland County Bar Association delegate to the OBA Annual Meeting House of Delegates since 1997. She was also a trustee of the Cleveland County Bar Foundation, a member of the Post- Adjudicatory Review Board for deprived children, where she served as chairman since 1994, and was a member of the Cleveland County Bench and Bar Committee. She further served as vice president of the Judicial Resources Board. She was also a founding member of the Mary Abbott House. She is survived by her husband, Craig Sutter; their daughter, Sarah Sutter; her sisters of her heart, and her cats Mortimer, Lady Jane and Minnie. In addition to her tireless work as a lawyer, Sandee was an avid reader and Master Gardener. She also enjoyed quilting and socializing with her wide array of friends.
