Coogan of Palmetto, Fla., formerly a longtime resident of Kent [King County, Washington], died of pancreatic cancer Dec. 9, 2004, in Tampa, Fla. He was 66. Mr. Coogan was born June 17, 1938, in Spokane. He was a mechanical engineer and worked for The Boeing Co. and Flow International and ran his own business, Entech. Mr. Coogan had a longtime interest in waterjet cutting for industry. He was active in the Kent area community as a Cub Scout leader, soccer and baseball coach for his children and received the Sunnycrest Elementary PTA Golden Acorn award for community service. He also enjoyed boating and being near the water. He moved to Florida in 1998 and enjoyed his retirement there. He is survived by his wife, Darlonna Coogan of Palmetto; sons Ross Coogan Jr. of Maple Valley, Michael Coogan of Portland, Ore., and Robert Coogan or North Bend; daughters, Pamela Nelson of Federal Way, Kimberly Adam of Tacoma and Tami Niccum of Bonney Lake; brother, John Coogan of England; sisters Elaine Lord of Portland, Ore.; and nine grandchildren. A service will be held at 3 p.m. Jan 9, at the Auburn Eagles Club, 702 M. St. Remembrances may be made to pancreatic cancer awareness and support at www.pancan.org.
