http://www.cooganresearchgroup.com/crg/index.htm 28 October 2012 Obituary of Mary Lou (Cerow) Coogan _______________________________________________________________________ (extracted from "Spartanburg Herald-Journal" [SC], 24 OCT 2012): MARY LOU CEROW COOGAN [photo] SPARTANBURG-- Mary Lou Cerow Coogan, 88, of Spartanburg, SC, died peacefully Friday night at the home of her daughter where she lived. Mrs. Coogan, the daughter of Fred and Elizabeth Gaffney Cerow, was born on February 24, 1924, in Clayton, NY. She has suffered for years with a variety of ailments but was not ready to go until Friday night. She graduated from St. Mary's High School in Clayton, NY. She attended business school and went to work at Walter Reed Hospital in D.C. where she met Michael J. Coogan. They were married at Holy Family Church on June 14, 1952, until Mike passed away in 2004. With Mike being in the Air Force, they lived in a variety of places but mostly in Texas. She is survived by her sister, Elsie (Higgins) Fegely, age 100 of New Smyrna Beach, FL; her children, Michelle Jessup of Spartanburg, Michael Pat Coogan of Shoreham, NY and Mitchell Fredrick Coogan of Utica, NY and many friends. She was a member of St. Paul's Church in Black River, NY and also in Spartanburg, SC and was a devout Catholic. Family was the most important aspect of her life. She was a loving mother who taught the boys how to play baseball and Michelle how to fish. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice special needs fund. There will be funeral Mass at St. Paul's Catholic Historic Church Thursday, Oct. 25, at 1:00 pm. _______________________________________________________________________
