[PA], [12 JAN] 2014): JOHN R. COOGAN (October 14, 1952 - January 12, 2014) John R. Coogan, 61, of Middle Smithfield Township, died peacefully early Sunday morning, January 12, at home with family members at his side. He was the husband of Chloe L. (Puzio) Coogan with whom he shared 21 years of marriage on August 15, 2013. Born October 14, 1952 in Bronx, NY, he was a son of the late John B. and Theresa (Kristinich) Coogan and lived in Landing, NJ prior to moving to Monroe County. John was a Vietnam veteran having served in the United States Navy from 1971 to 1973 on the USS. Tripoli. He was a 1970 graduate of Roxbury High School and Lincoln Technical Institute. John enjoyed fishing, golfing, hunting and scuba diving. He was a member of the Roseto Rod & Gun Club, VFW Home Association of Monroe County, Fraternal Order of Eagles #1106 in Stroud Township, American Legion Post 945 and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of USA. He worked for the Delaware Water Gap Federal Park Commission and for Intercounty Paving Association, Hackettstown, NJ. In addition to his wife he is survived by three siblings, Liz Coogan of Budd Lake, NJ, Kevin Coogan of Landing, NJ and Barbara Coogan of East Elmhurst, NY; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Michael P. Coogan on February 7, 2012. Services will be private with military burial at sea.
