JAMES B. COOGAN JR

Funeral Services to celebrate the life of James B. Coogan Jr., 82,
a resident of Coal Valley [IL] will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, 
September 28, 2005 at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home in the
All Faith Chapel.  Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.  Visitation
will be Wednesday the 28th from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.  Jim
died Sunday September 25, 2005 at his home after an extended illness.

James Bernard Coogan Jr. was born April 4, 1923 the son of James Sr.
and Alice (Glanville) Coogan in Peoria, Illinois.  Jim graduated from
Bradley University and then proudly served his country during WWII
in the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant J.G. on a landing support craft.  He
was united in marriage to Margaret "Peg" Herring, August 16, 1947 in
Rock Island.  Jim worked as Director of Advertising for Deere and 
Company, retiring in 1984 after 25 years.  Jim was an avid golfer at
Short Hills Country Club and enjoyed gardening, fishing in Canada and
cheering for the St. Louis Cardinals and Notre Dame; but his greatest
joy came from spending time with his family especially his 
grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to either Pathway Hospice or Trinity Visiting
Nurses Association.

Survivors include his wife Peg and their children; daughters, Kathleen
Coogan, Bettendorf, Barbara Coogan, Westminster, CO; sons, Patrick
(Janet) Coogan, Bettendorf, and James "Dan" (Beth) Coogan, Ankeny, IA;
six grandchildren, as well as a sister, Nancy Smith of North Carolina.

His parents preceded him in death.
