A librarian at several institutions on Long Island and director of the Southold Library from 1975 to 1980, she was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin in Madison and received a degree in library science in 1967 from C. W. Post College of Long Island University. She was a member of the Concord, Massachusetts orchestra, a volunteer at Emerson Hospital in Massachusetts and a eucharistic minister at Sacred Heart parish in Lexington. She is survived by her six children, Michael of Concord, Mary Horan of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Margaret of Arlington, Virginia, Elizabeth Leuke of Louisville, Kentucky, James of Houston, Texas and Anne Steindorf of Sammamish, Washington; and by 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Daniel.
