Clay street], killed Sept.... __________________________________________________________________ (extracted from "Southtown Economist" [Chicago, IL], 24 OCT 1945, PAGE 1): MEMORIAL RITES SUNDAY FOR GEORGE C. COOGAN Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday for Flight Officer George C. Coogan, 22 years old, 7830 May st., in the Marquette Manor Baptist church, 60th st. and California av. Flight Officer Coogan was killed in a crash landing of a P-38 on Okinawa September 6 of this year. The crash occured while he was on a return trip from Japan. He attended Harper high school, Northwestern university and was an inventory clerk before he enlisted in the air corps in October 1942. He was sent overseas in May of this year. Surviving him are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Coogan, and a sister, Mrs. Mark Ariel, father, Walter, and a brother, Thomas, both of Racine.
