COOGAN investment banker, 82, Marine veteran two wars David G. Coogan, 82, of Boonton died yesterday in St. Clare's Hospital, Denville. A Mass will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in St. Catherine of Siena Church, Pocono Road, Mountain Lakes. Arrangements are by the Mackey Funeral Home, Boonton. Mr. Coogan was a municipal bond specialist and, throughout his 50- year career, worked for a number of companies, including his own, Coogan, Gilbert & Co., Ridgewood, which he co-founded and operated for 10 years. He retired in 1997 from Seelaus and Co., Summit. He received his investment banking certificate from New York University in 1948. Mr. Coogan served as a captain with the Marine Corps during both World War II and the Korean War. He was a founding member of St. Catherine of Siena Church, a founder and co-chairman of the St. Clare's Harvest Festival, and served on the board of directors of the St. Clare's Hospital Foundation. He was a trustee of the Wilson School, Mountain Lakes, president of the Mountain Lakes Club, a member of the board of directors of the Rockaway River Country Club, Denville, and a volunteer driver with the American Cancer Society. Additionally, he was a member of the U.S. Golf Association, the New Jersey Seniors Golf Association, the New Jersey Golf Association, and the Metropolitan Golf Association. He served as rules official for the New Jersey Golf Association and the Metropolitan Golf Association. Mr. Coogan was a member of the National Association of Securities Dealers, serving on the Ethics Committee, and was also a member of the Mountain Lakes Squadron. Born in Madison, he lived in Mountain Lakes for 19 years before moving to Boonton 30 years ago. Coogan, 82, a retired municipal bond specialist and a Marine captain in World War II and the Korean War, died Saturday at St. Clare's Hospital, Denville, N.J., after a brief illness. Mr. Coogan worked for several companies during his 50-year career, retiring in 1997 from Seelaus & Co. He co-founded Coogan, Gilbert & Co., which he operated for 10 years. A sportsman and former professional tennis player, Mr. Coogan skied until he was 80. As a golfer, he scored three holes-in-one. He was a member of several golf associations. He was a founding member of St. Catherine of Siena Church and served on the board of directors of the St. Clare's Hospital Foundation. He volunteered as a driver for the American Cancer Society. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Saint Clare's Hospital Foundation.
