She was a retired nurse and parishoner of Sacred Heart Church in Newburgh. Born Cecelia Casserly in Emlagh, County Roscommon, Ireland, she received a nursing license at St. Patrick's Hospital School of Nursing, in Dublin, and emigrated to the United States shortly thereafter. She was employed by the Yonkers Professional Hospital, Yonkers and Highland/St. Francis Hospital, Beacon, where she received honors for Outstanding Performance in her field, was recognized as Employee of the Year. She is survived by her husband, James M. Coogan of Yonkers; a daughter, Mary E. Coogan of Yonkers; a son, James J. Coogan of Manhattan; a sister, Mary Gleason of Croton-on-Hudson; a nephew, Michael Casserly of Tallahassee, Fla.; nieces, Dr. Geraldine Cannon of Cove Creek, Ariz., Mary Casserly of Philadelphia, Pa., Patricia Fernandez of Putnam Valley, Eileen Twomey of Long Island, N.J., Evelyn Winters of Philadelphia, Pa., and Maureen Gannon-Murray of Yonkers. She is further survived by numerous cousins in the United States and Ireland. She has been predeceased by her sister, Bridget Gannon, and brothers Michael and John Casserly.
