"Sacred to the memory of Trumpet Major Peter Coogan of the 8th Kings
Royal Irish Hussars who departed this life on the 31st day of
December 1871 [31 DEC 1871] aged 29 years.  This monument is erected
in affectionate remembrance by his brother Non Commissioned Officers
by whom he was held in the highest esteem."
