Research:

This is the family of Michael Coogan of County Kilkenny, Ireland.  
He lived in Uskerty (Moneenroe), near Castlecomer.  

Michael's grand-son, Richard P. Coogan, emigrated to the United 
States in the early Twentieth Century and settled in 
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Some of his descendants still live
in that area today.

There is a chance that this family is connected to another group
from Moneenroe that later moved to the United States and settled
in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania.

Most members of this group remained in Ireland.

Brian is a cousin of this Coogan family - through the Butler 
family of Ellen, wife of Michael. Brian's side moved to Australia 
in the 1840s.
