Research:

This is the family of Christopher Coogan. He was born in Ireland 
and emigrated to the United States in the early Nineteenth 
Century.  Most of his children came with him.  He first settled 
in Connecticut.  A few years later he moved most of his family 
to Dodge County, Wisconsin.  

One interesting piece of information about this family is that 
three of Christopher's children (Matthew, Christopher II and 
Anne) married into the McCaig family.  Christopher's [II's] wife 
apparently died very young and his siblings raised his 
child(ren) for many years while he may have been prospecting 
throughout the western United States.

Most of Christopher's descendants still live in the area near 
Watertown (Jefferson County) today.  One large branch, headed by 
Peter Francis Coogan, moved to New England.  Anna Coogan, 
vocalist for north19 and a solo music artist, is a member of 
this group.

This family has also been found as COGAN.
