Research:

This is one of the Coogan families of Shankill (or Shankelle), 
Parish Kilkerrin (or Kilkerran), County Galway.  

The first known member of this family was Michael Coogan, who
appears in the 1911 Ireland Census.

Michael's son, Thomas J. Coogan, emigrated to the United States 
and settled in Chicago (Cook County), Illinois.

This family could be related to the other families from Shankill.
