Research:

This is the family of James Coogan.  He was born in Ireland (we
suspect he was from County Kilkenny, although he may also have
lived in County Cork).

James' son, Michael Coogan, emigrated to Canada in the mid 
Nineteenth Century.  He settled in Quebec City (Ville de Quebec), 
where he and several of his children lived for many years.  
There is a chance that he moved to the United States around 1870, 
but by 1881 he was back in QC.

One of James' grand-sons, William Coogan, moved to Brooklyn, NY, 
where he died in 1918.

Another James' grand-sons, Thomas Clifford Coogan, moved to 
British Columbia.  He eventually settled in Oregon.

This family has also been found as COOGEN.
