http://www.cooganresearchgroup.com/crg/index.htm 20 January 2014 Researcher (Location): CRG Sponsor (no links to a researcher yet) Research: This is the family of Thomas Coogan. He was born in New South Wales, Australia (year unknown). He turned early to a life of crime and must have moved continuously for many years, apparently attempting to avoid punishment for theft, perjury and "sundry brothel brawls." At one point, Thomas became one of the star figures of a notorious divorce case, Coningham v. Coningham and O'Hara, held in Sydney. Thomas was also a known criminal in Queensland and Western Australia. He spent several years in prison for criminal acts in Perth and Freemantle (circa 1900). After he was released, he apparently decided that he could only succeed at crime by leaving Australia. In 1908, he was caught committing a brazen burglary in Christchurch (South Island), New Zealand. This is our last link to his whereabouts. We are currently looking for someone to link with this family and to take over the search! ******************** 01.
