Research:

This is the family of Owen Coogan, originally from County 
Monaghan.  He may also have lived in neighboring County Cavan.
 
Owen's sons, Michael Coogan and Edward Coogan, moved from their 
home in parish Clontibret to Coatbridge, Scotland in the 1850s.  
Later, large parts of this family lived in Old Monkland 
(Lanarkshire), Scotland - some still do.  

One branch of this family moved to Australia.

After leaving Ireland, at least some of members of this branch 
became known as COGANS (later COOGANS). Even recently, there has 
been some interchanging of the COOGAN / COOGANS surname - even 
between generations.

Pat and Margaret Coogan Mullen are descendants of Michael COOGAN.

Dan is a descendant of Edward COOGAN / COGANS / COOGANS through 
his son, Francis COOGANS.  

Ann-Marie is also descendant of Edward COOGAN / COGANS / COOGANS 
through his son, Edward COGANS / COOGANS [II].  Jim is her first 
cousin.  Margaret Coogans is also a descendant of this line. 

Christine is a descendant of Owen through his grand-son, Robert
Coogan.
