Research:

This is the family of William Coogan.  He was born in Ireland.  

William's son, James Coogan, moved to the United States in the 
early Nineteenth Century.  He first settled in Wareham 
(Plymouth County), Massachusetts.  Later, he moved his family
to Fall River (Bristol County).  Some of his descendants still 
live in that area today.  

Another of William's sons, Patrick Coogan, also moved to Bristol 
County.  He was married in Fall River in 1864.  We are not sure 
what happened to him after that.

One of William's grand-sons, John R. Coogan, died very young.
However, he did have one son (William Vincent Coogan) who later 
moved to Chicago (Cook County), Illinois.  A large part of this 
family still lives in that area. The branch also has connections 
with Philadelphia.

Another of William's grand-sons, Sylvester Coogan, moved to New 
York City.  Some of his offspring still live in that state but 
spread into Onondaga County.  

Other parts of this branch moved to Washington State in the 
1920s.
