Research:

This is the family of James Coogan.  He was born in Ireland and
emigrated to the United States in the mid Nineteenth Century.
He settled in Brooklyn (Kings County), New York.

A sad tale about this family can be found on the "Coogan News 
Stories" page.  It recounts how James and Mary's only son,
John Coogan, married a girl named Agnes.  When James died, his
wife married William Butler.  Then, when John Coogan died, Agnes
and Mary feuded until their deaths. 

This family has also been found as COGAN.
