Research:

This is the family of James Coogan.  He was born in Ireland and
lived in the townland of Ballysalla, County Kilkenny.  There is
a possibility that James was born in County Cork, but this is
very speculative.

James' son, Michael Coogan, emigrated to Canada in the mid 
Nineteenth Century.  He settled in Quebec City (Ville de Quebec), 
where he and several of his children lived for many years.  
There is a chance that he moved to the United States in the late
1850s and/or part of the 1860s (up to around 1870). By 1881 he 
was back in Canada.

One of James' grand-sons, William Coogan, moved to Brooklyn, NY, 
where he died in 1918. Another grand-son, Thomas Clifford Coogan, 
moved to British Columbia - and later to Oregon.

This family has also been found as COOGEN.
