Notes for: John Quinn I

"Uncle John" as he was affectionately known by the Quinn girls, lived with his parents John Quinn, I, at 625 Whittier St. in the East Liberty section of Pittsburgh, Pa. as recorded by the Census of 1900.His father was John Quinn, Sr., grandfather was Jeremiak Quinn.

Baptised at the Immaculate Conception church, Ballingarry (see register there) his sponsors were William Cagney (most likely a maternal uncle who came to America, married Ellen Sullivan and lived on the South Side) and Alice Houlihan.

Uncle John was 42 at the time of his death . He had written a will leaving estate to his sister Elizabeth Frances as witnessed by James Manion; since will and death date are the same he apparently died of a sudden illness. It is presumed he never married. He too may have been employed by the PRR as he had a sum of money, sufficient to buy property on Lincoln Hill where a house was built and lived in by Elizabeth and brother Michael. John buried at the Quinn family plot, Calvary Cemetery, Section B, Lot # 226.
